Warren Blue Wave head instructor Mr. Guy Brochu (left) with the support of his family, Mrs. Debra, Mr. John (right) and Ms. Jen Brochu, opened the dojang in 2001. The Brochu family started their Taekwondo training in 1991 and attained the rank of first dan together in 1997. They were the first family of four in the history of the Blue Wave Association to successfully test for first dan at the same time, proving that Taekwondo is a family oriented sport.
Mr. John and Mr. Guy Brochu went on to compete and medal in national events such as the USAT Nationals, AAU Nationals, and the World Chung Do Kwon Championships, as well as local competitions such as the US Taekwondo Classic and various qualifiers. They both achieved the rank of fourth dan in 2006 and continue to run the Warren Blue Wave which has been growing rapidly with a strong core of great students. They also run a Taekwondo program for the Pemi Youth Center in Plymouth, NH.
"The highlight of my taekwondo career was the four of us successfully testing for our first dan at the same time," Mr. Guy Brochu said.
Taekwondo has becomes a way of life for Mr. Guy Brochu. "I see what Taekwondo brings to individuals," he said. "To watch a thirteen year old black belt work with anyone from a six year old child to an adult without question or attitude is a testament of character. I have also received many comments from parents and teachers about improvement in attitude attention and grades of my students."
